What is the ISE Card?
The International Student Exchange ID Card is a discount card available to students of any age, faculty members and youth under 26 years of age.
First founded in 1958 at the University of Illinois, the ISE Card was created to encourage students to enhance their educational experience through travel.
It was hoped that by providing a discount card to students that they would have a greater opportunity to travel and learn about the culture and history of other parts of the world, something that they would otherwise not be able to afford on their limited budgets.
Today the ISE Card is sold in over 50 countries worldwide and provides a great range of benefits at thousands of locations both in Australia and New Zealand as well as internationally.
Additionally the ISE Card is universally recognised as a valid Student Identification Card and often will be honoured for student concessions at locations that are not even ISE members.
The benefits of being a member
Student Airfares
The ISE Card qualifies you to receive special airfare rates to Europe, Asia or anywhere. These special student rates can not be obtained with your standard student ID.
Discounts
The ISE card holders enjoy a wide range of discounts in over 50 countries throughout the world, including the United States, Australia, Canada, Europe, South America and Asia. You can search for what discounts you are entitled to on the ISE website.
These discounts tend to range from 10% to 50% off and generally are divided into one of five categories, these being Accommodation, Attractions, Food, Shopping & Services and Transportation. These discounts aren’t just for when you are travelling, you can save money on a daily basis by flashing your ISE card around your home town.
Medical Benefits
Throughout your membership you are covered with basic medical benefits that provide up to $2000 in medical expenses and up to $5000 in evacuation fees, if necessary.
Worldwide Assistance
The ISE Card provides you with important protection while abroad. As a member you will be provided with an emergency phone number you can call from anywhere in the world. This number is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to assist you with any urgent problems you may encounter.
Emergency cash can also be sent to you abroad as an ISE member.
Bankruptcy Protection
This protection applies to any and all student airline tickets purchased by an ISE Cardholder from an authorised ISE Card agent such as Student Flights. This new protection will reimburse any student ISE Cardholder for 100% of the amount paid for an airline ticket no longer being honoured by the airline due to bankruptcy on the part of the issuing agent or the airline. In what have been difficult economic times for the travel industry worldwide, it is reassuring indeed to have this additional peace of mind for our student travellers.
